As unlikely as it may seem, damaged or defective network cables are often the cause for poor throughput issues between a ShareCenter and other connected devices. If a ShareCenter has poor throughput, packet loss, or unable to connect at gigabit speeds, cabling is one of the first items that should be investigated. Cables should be carefully examined to ensure the cable is properly rated for the maximum speed of the network (e.g. a gigabit network with a Cat5 cable will throttle network traffic passing through the cable to megabit speeds).
