Hey I just got the dlink 4500 gaming router and i set it up and everything but when i search for an ssid it doesn't show up.I have been having this problem ever since i got it.I dont know what to do much help would be needed.

I am using a Imac and it connects to the internet fine but it doesn't show the ssid when i search for it on airport or on my ps3.

Try setting it to G only. Usually that does the trick.

but isn't G slower than N or something like that....I really need help i sent the router back to the company for a new one and i am hoping that might fix some of the problems i have been having

What wireless modes are you using on the router?
What wireless modes does your iMac support? G? N?
What wireless security modes are you using? WEP or WPA2? WPA2 is preferred.

I have a Mac Book Pro and it support N and does connect to my 4500 using either Single mode G or N.

Its not a matter if N is faster then G, its a matter of what works for your network. If none of your computers are capable of N, then putting it on N only will make your speed 0, because you won't connect. G and N can cause problems because one adapter may be capable of N which confuses the others. Can't go into specifics without getting very technical. And last, the connection rate to the router does NOT speed up the connection from the router. Another words, if your internet provider only lets your modem connect at 5Mb down, then everything above a 10Mb or 15Mb transfer rate  to the router is useless. G can connect up to 54Mb so unless your doing PC to PC network, you don't lose anything(atleast in connection rates) using G. And if you have no choice..well, then you absolutely need to use G.

dam i wish i knew about this...On the mac i have airport and i dont know if it supports n but i wish i could solve this problem i am have ...My linksys router is working fine but it give alot of problems(I have to reset it every time...I bought the 4500 to solve that problem and know i run into a different problem

i have a 24 inch imac the newest version i think

That should support G and N.
Right now my 4500 is set for N mode only at 5Ghz, WPA2 Personal, Auto Bandwidth, Cypher is AES only and my 4yr old MacBook Pro Connects just fine.

I would try single mode G with out any security to test to see if the imac connects, then change up to N mode only and see. Let us know.
