Help with Xbox 360 Strict NAT
« on: October 15, 2010, 03:20:44 PM »

Just bought the DGL-4300 in hopes to solve my multiple xbox 360's strict NAT's. Previously, I was using a wack linksys router that only half worked and had a mind of its own when it came to NAT being open and closed. As in, resetting the router would allow both xbox's to be open on the first 2-3 boot ups. After that only the wired xbox would be open and the wireless would be strict. So I found lots of good reviews on the DGL-4300, and invested in one. Freshly unpacked and connected, powered up first xbox to see that it was still strict, as well as the 2nd xbox too. I have been all over bing trying to find solutions. I've tried from, changing the 'advanced -> gaming' tab to the preset xbox live setting with added ports of 53TCP/UDP and 80TCP. I've changed the gamefuel to be enabled with disabling the 'dynamic frag'. UPnP is enabled and DNS relay disabled. Disabled SPI. Also tried doing firmware downgrade from 1.9 to 1.8. So please, someone... HELP ME!!!! Before I lose me sanity. Version downgrades or anything at all to help or try that I haven't yet. Thanks in advanced.

Well, after a whole day of messing around, I solved my own problem with something I should have tried in the beginning... Bridge the modem to sync with the router. It instantly fixed my problem. Good luck to anyone else trying to fix the dilemma. NO MORE STRICT NAT!!!

Also review the DGL-4500 forum for Gaming and Gamefuel stickys. They work.

What ISP service do you have? DSL or Cable?
What ISP Modem do you have? Make and model?

you need to call up your ISP and have them help you bridge the DSL modem to the router. You'll need to input the DSL login information into the Setup/Internet/Manual section. The ISP should help you with this. Once this is done, take a look at the gaming and gamefuel sticky in the DGL-4500 forum to help you streamline your router. Once the bridge is done, the PS will report NAT type 2.
