I am always looking here to tweak my settings as I am not happy with the performance of my internet/gaming.  I just changed the manual uplink to 6000, any sugguestions if that is good or not?  My main issues seems to be with upload speeds as it never goes above .70mb.  I have Insight Cable Roadrunner with powerboost, should be the 15mb, and I have a DOSCIS(whatever that is) 3.0 Motorola.  Is this a router issue, low uplink, or an ISP issue?  As a reference point it seems that playing Gears 1 or 2 I seem to shot someone and there is not sign of the bullets hitting them even when they are right in front of me...lag or upload speed issue?  Also, I have FW 1.21NA, how and should I upload the 1.22 that I see people talking about?  Thank you.

Upload speeds are not much up there unless you specifically ask ur ISP about UPload. What did your ISP say your upload speed would be? As for manual UPLOAD link speed. I've set mine to 2048 and that in testing right now. I think anyspeed you set up will not effect the upload speed much as ur ISP will still automatically limit it.

If thats what you have, 15-20Mb down and 1.5Mb up, then your upload is max of 1.5Mb. Setting your router to 6000 will only make your upload slower, because it changes the way it fragments the data. What is making you think its .70mb? What test are you doing?

My ISP provides me with 2Mbps upload speed and I have set my manuel upload speed to 2048 seems to do perform alright but should I have set it to that? I mean its only 48 over what my isp offers.

Ive been using 2048 that was recommended by someone on the XBL servers. Seems to be doing fine for me. I think anything above that is probably not going to work any or much better. My 2 cents.

Well it actually controlls alot of the router's sub-systems for outgoing data I believe. From multi-casts, to MTU and dynamic fragmentation, its really important not to set it too high. Thats why, unless your upload is really slow on boot(and thus would misrepesent your actual upload on a power cycle) I personally think you should leave it on auto. Or atleast the very least, ask what your QoS cap and/or throttle is. Data transmit is different then actual throughput. You really shouldnt set your upload higher then that even if your ISP grants speedboost or powerboost or something that can increase upload higher then that. This is really important when playing multiplayer, because the lag impossed by the throttle of your ISP can cause a lag spike which can create a chain reaction..well..anyway. Yea, set it to Auto or your Max Upload your ISP promises you.
