Setting new router
« on: December 13, 2014, 07:13:56 PM »

Hi,

When I started the sevice with my ISP they provided me wrung a router "D-link" DIR 803 but it has the modified firmware for the ISP company so it was not possible for me to access the normal dlink control panel.

I bought a linksys router and wanted to replace the ISP router and I tried to setup the connection through pppoe as it was in the dlink but there was no connection even though all lights are ok in the linksys router!

I called the ISP and they gave me instructions but no success so they sent me a technician the next day.

When the technician came he tried for a good 30 min straight to figure out why the router is not connecting to come with a conclusion that my ISP router which is the dir 803 is a pnp router so I can't use the same configuration (username and pass) of the ISP router on the linksys router.

He told me to go the ISP site and change my internet password then don't turn on the ISP router, turn linksys and do the configuration with the new password for the pppoe conbdction then it should work.

I did what he told me to do but guess what! Still not working?

Can someone help

Thanks,
Rami

You'll need to refer to the ISP and or Linksys for help and support for your new Linksys router.
Linksys has a community forum as well.

Good Luck.
