DCS942 email snapshot and DDNS not working

I recently purchased the 942 and a 5222 and had them side by side, on the same wireless network, trying to set up the snapshot to email function.  I updated the 942 firmware to the latest which has a TEST function for email.

However, with exactly the same settings, the 5222 passes the email test and the 942 repeatedly fails although I am able to see each video from the local network and from the public Internet.

Additionally, the DDNS function on the 942 does not work while it does on the 5222.

Before I call the 942 defective and swap it at the retailer, any suggestions?
