Title: DNR-202L - Java Hangs When Accessing Recorded Information on Win 10 PC
Post by: jeckannc on December 04, 2015, 11:33:36 AM
Background: Windows 10, latest Java (SE 8 U66), latest firmware on the DNR-202L, DNR-202L connected to Wi-Fi router via ethernet. Latest Firefox browser.

I can access the recorded information on my iPad but not with my Windows PC (see Note below). The most direct way of demonstrating the problem is to access the 202L directly with Firefox using the 202L's IP address. I get an almost immediate security warning that asks if I want to allow the D-Link application to run. I click on Allow and my four DCS-5010L camera live displays are shown. When I click on the Play Back button I get a pop-up asking me if I want to run this application and beneath it is a Java screen with the rotating whatever-its-called. This is followed by a pop-up saying "Warning - unresponsive plugin." The text states that Java isn't responding. If I click on the Continue button nothing happens. If i click on the Stop the Plugin button the main window says that Java has crashed. I can go back to the Live screen by clicking on the Live button and that display works correctly. Each time I go to the Play Back screen Java hangs.

Java seems to be working with the live display but not with the recording display. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Note: I just tried accessing the Play Back function with IE on the same machine and it works with no problem.

So IE works and FF does not on Windows 10?

Correct.  The Live function works for both Firefox and Internet Explorer. The Play Back function only works for IE.

IE doesn't show the security pop-ups at all; It just starts the application.

I wonder if there is a issue with FF on Windows 10. Do you have a PC that has Windows 7 on it to test?

My immediately-available PCs have Windows 10. I do have a PC that originally had Win XP installed. Would you like for me to see if I can resurrect XP? I don't know if I have XP or 7 media but I can check. I'll let you know how it works out.

My thought is that it's a Java - Win 10 problem.

I did install an ActiveX Control plugin on FF but nothing changed. I saw that suggested on one of the posts in this forum.

Thanks for your help.

I believe that I found the problem. I went to the Win 10 Control Panel - Programs and opened Java (Java Control Panel.) I clicked on the Security tab and added the IP address of the 202L to the Exception Site List.

When I opened the web interface for the 202L, each time that a Java pop-up appeared I checked the box that said something like "Don't ask me this for this site again" and then clicked the Run button. Now the web interface for both the Live and Play Back windows work and I don't get the Java pop-ups.

Thanks again for your help.
