Title: Site-to-Site VPN
Post by: acalandi on November 24, 2014, 07:07:20 AM
I'm looking for a router for a small business with two locations, I need to be able to setup a Site-to-Site VPN so that both locations can access each others computers and remote desktop to them. I'd like to use L2TP/IPSEC for the VPN connection. If I purchase two of these will I be able to accomplish this? thanks

Even though the 880L has VPN services, i don't know if Site to Site would be supported. I can ask my contact and see. It maybe that Site to Site is delegated to a business class router rather than home class since most avg home users are not servicing site to site configurations. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

As already pointed out by FurryNutz, this model is built for Home use and NOT for business applications. The router's vpn support is limited to a single L2TP over IPSec tunnel (Server/Client configuration). See emulator Quick VPN page HERE (http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dir880l/101/VPN.html#)
To establish a point-to-point VPN connection you will need to use a Business application VPN router or something that support point-to-point VPN tunneling. The D-Link DSR series VPN routers may help, but you should do your homework to find the correct model that satisfies your or your customer's requirements.
