Just updatet from 2.0.3b1 to the new 2.03

After that funplug was nor working anymore. :-\
But after reinstalling with the "Basicinstallation"
http://nas-tweaks.net/371/hdd-installation-of-the-fun_plug-0-7-on-nas-devices/
funplug was ready again, also my additional packages are still there (lftp,mc,atop etc)
Also my Scripts inside the ffp Folder.

My Settings:sharings(smb, ftp), users, ddns, ip, upnp, ntp, email are OK

Now i well made some Benchmarks and report the next Days....

Updated from 2.02 official release to the new 2.03...DNS-320 purchased in UK

(a) Upgrade itself went smoothly (PC doing the upgrade connected to the NAS via Gigabit switch); whole process took around 4-5 minutes including rebooting after the firmware update was complete.

(b) Access to web UI and to CIFS shares appeared to be exactly as it had been before the upgrade (no loss or resetting of passwords etc., and no loss of files

(c) A few differences spotted in the web UI when logged in as 'admin'
i. The "Home" page now has a permanent shortcut to the web file server (labelled as "My Files") + an "add/remove" button for easily adding the application shortcuts to the "Favorites" list
ii. AjaXplorer appears to have been dropped; no longer shown as an icon in the "Applications" page (but it's still actually there...see bug report below...
iii. Mail setup page within the "Management" area now includes all the useful options for authentication and secure connection with the mail server.

(d) A few minor bugs/inconsistencies noticed in the web UI when logged in as a regular user..
i. "Home" button disappears if going to the "Applications" page. But it then reappears if entering the settings dialogue for one of the applications.
ii. AjaXplorer is shown (and still appears to be working) for the non-admin user; however "Amazon S3" (shown to the admin user) is not shown to the regular user.
iii. The button for "management" flashes when moving between pages (IMO cosmetic issue only; looks ugly, but the "management" screens do (correctly) appear to be out-of-bounds to the non-admin user.

Will leave the 2.03 firmware running and see how it behaves over the next few days...

Regards,
Richard

It's the same than the one that has been leaking for several months now. Why the hell did Dlink had us waiting all this time ?

Still doesn't work as a Time Machine backup server in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion!  It just hangs the computer trying to do the backup.  How can D-Link release brand new firmware with such an obvious bug in a vital feature?

That's just embarrassing...

The fact that the release notes don't even mention it makes me question how much they actually even test these things before releasing them on us.

Sorry, Im not having any trouble similar to yours ... two DNS-320 with v2.03 and two MB with Lion 10.8.2. and both of them start to make the backup... then continue and Myself stop it... (i dont want to compelte the backup because using TM in other NAS) (Thecus)

... but ... lets check.... Ill try to do a complete backup to check if ALL the process goes well (400GB need to wait).

Heh, I was too kind... All AFP of any kind from OS X Mountain Lion hangs the client machine.  That's terrible!

With this ....  any trouble with AFP conected to both my DNS-320īs confirmed.

Exactly what I am seeing, just hangs forever and never conntects. I can see the drives, but nothing in them. I suspect its apple at fault here, same as when they changed things Lion and broke TM, I didnt learn my lesson and upgraded too soon again.

Hi,

I don't know if there is a relation with, but my DNS freezed today. I changed the FW three days ago with the new release (2.03) and everything was fine.
But suddenly : the three lights on the front panel remained lighted, no possibility to swith off the unit with main switch on the front, no action possible, and of course no network answer. But strange, the DNS answers to a ping request...

So I shut it down by removing the power plug.
After a normal restart, no problem until for now.

Just for information.

Well I did find a workaround.  It seems like if I delete ALL of my other shares, and just back up to one share which is also the root of my Volume_1, it seems to be working (110 GB backed up so far).  In my old setup I had a separate "Backups" share, and that worked great.  Pretty bad regression :(

Has anyone else experienced this issue?  i.e. is this a global issue or isolated to this one DNS-320?  ???

Just wanted to confirm that I have backed up 3 separate computers to my DNS-320 over AFP at this point with no issues.  I've re-enabled a root-level share on my other drive, and have subsequently had success backing up.  I've not tried to back up to a subdirectory-level share yet, but I'm suspecting that might be close to the issue.

Same situation here.
Ajax seems to be hiding in regular shortcut's (have to go to apps then it appears), and still hasn't got any update.
Layout of pages has some issues.

Seems the team needs to have more attention or ask for community help in develop ?
Every new update is messing things up...

Hi all,
I have just bought my D-link in Germany and noticed that the support website in D-link Germany only had the 2.03b3. Am i allowed to install the 2.03 released from the international site posted here, not the german site beta3, on my d-link DNS-320 that i just bought a week ago?

Thanks for any help.

You can download the worldwide distribution version of firmware v2.03 on the D-Link Taiwan (http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/) site.
The file link is: Firmware:DNS-320 A2 FW V2.03(for WW).  Just make sure you hardware version is "A2", which is printed on the sticker on the rear of the unit.

Thanks for pointing to the TW site. However, the file looks the same 2.13.0618.2012 with the words 2.03b3 too. So i guess i already have the latest from the german D-Link site. Thanks in any case for the quick response :-)

Apart from adding new features (listed in wishlist), I would like to pinpoint one MAJOR BUG that influences the essence of DNS-320 itself a.k.a network storage.

After flashing 2.03 transfer speed lowered, listed here:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50952.msg189631#msg189631
or
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50988.0
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=51104.0

Must have something to do with these "fixes":
[Bug Fix] MAC OS Problem when Copy Folders--Samba
    [Bug Fix] Teracopy issue
[Bug Fix] Samba cannot copy large file

Downgrade to 2.02 helped for me. But I'm not sure that it wont destroy my large files, it's pity I'm not able downgrade to good old 2.00.

EDIT: fun_plug disabled, P2P, FTP, upnp disabled - didn't help

Hello.

I own a dns 320 with firmware 2.02 and I'm thinking of upgrade to 2.03 before to install funplug and twonky server.

Reading this threat, JavaLawyer posts that is necessary to check the hardware version prior to upgrade.
My dns320 has hardware version A1, but there is no 2.03 A1 firmware version.
Is compatible A2 version with A1?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I'm using DNS-320 with FW v2.03 for several weeks, and I don't notice any problem on the shares. PC Clients are 2 W XP Pro, 2 W 7 Pro, 1 W 8 Home. All the PCs are connected by wifi to a router and the DNS-320 is directly attached to the router.
I have two shares mounted from ISO images which are well used by PC clients.

The only problem I encountered is about offline files function in Windows : it works but causes mismatches in the directory tree of the DNS-320. I can't say if it's a bug or not.

Bye

Seems quite likely since they have a wishlist of whats needed in future firmware.
The firmware ok but far from what it should be since some parts are not user friendly at all which is bad when its meant to be setup by the common person with little tech knowledge.

I recently bought a BP520 bluray player to view movies from the DNS-320.
The player used to stop playing movies after different times - different movies at different points.
But the same movie at the same point.  Confused the hell out of me.  I was blaming the player.
I spoke to LG today - they were saying it must be the NAS.
My new wireless router has built in NAS - I decided to use this to prove that the LG player wasn't working.
To my shock it works perfectly.  Looks like the DNS-320 NAS is the issue!
Anyone experienced anything similar?
I bought the player so that I didn't have to stream thru my PS3 - but ended up using it cos the player didn't work.
I hope someone is aware of this or will be now - And hopefully fix it in a newer version of FW.
I'm using DNS-320_fw_revAx_2-03b03_all_en_20121005 - (this fixed the itunes problems for me).
Can someone help please?
Thanks very much :)

Hi Everyone,

Just bought DNS-320 4 days ago and I upgraded the firmware right away (2.03). So far I found 2 issues here:

1. The Amazon S3 backup application. First time using it, it works (but no status text telling me its finish, error or something). But the second day, it's freeze (again no status text telling me whats wrong). I checked my Amazon S3, no files added. I googled and I'm not alone, please check this link:

https://forums.aws.amazon.com/thread.jspa?messageID=404320

Please...please fixed this issue.

2. Creating a schedule for SMART test not working, just appearing loading screen and thats it...no ending and I must refresh my browser.

So far my 4 days observation like that. Really appreciate it can be fixed in the next upgrade.

Thanks.

Hi,

I can't speak about Amazon S3. But I configured a SMART test one year ago and that works every night.
So, each morning I receive a mail informing of the result of the tests on each disk.
I'm sure that tests are correctly done because one of them failed (showing one disk was wrong) and I obtained confirmation by testing the disk outside of the DNS.

No other problem encountered.

Bye

I don't want to worry you but they already announced they are no longer supporting this model so I doubt there will be any further firmware unless we are lucky. I've been waiting years for them to fix time machine support, I've long given up.

However the link on the dlink website doesn't seem to work/download it ....

ftp://ftp.dlink.eu/Products/dns/dns-320/driver_software/DNS-320_fw_revA1A2_2-03b03_all_en_20121005.zip

Has anyone else got an alternative location?  I've even tried different browsers and actual FTP clients but they refuse the download...

Any help would be amazing..

Cheers

Correct. Hardware revision B1 is much newer than the A series and follows a different firmware upgrade path. As of now, version 1.00 is the latest public release for hardware revision B1.

Okay, but the URL seemed to be something other than the "google.com" domain, so I removed.  :-\ ???
No worries. . . we're permitted to openly discuss the location of firmware published on official D-Link USA channels, as well as the TSD site (China), which has structured releases and betas clearly marking intended regions.

Storage locations in other official D-Link regions are discussed in the context of public releases for forum members with internationally purchased hardware, but not for distribution of pre-release FW not intended for the US.

We've seen pre-release beta FW posted in the past, and many unsuspecting forum members not realizing what they're getting into commit to the firmware, placing their data (and sometimes hardware) in jeopardy. Removing public posts with URLs mitigates that threat.

Is this update compatible with all hardware versions? I want to be sure that this firmware release is compatible with my DNS-320. I got my DNS-320 in Indonesia, and in the Indonesia D-Link website all previous firmware updates has "H/W: A1" written in the description. Does this mean that I have the A1 version? Is there a way to find out the hardware version of my DNS-320?

Wow, that was a quick response! And very useful! :D
I just confirmed that I have the A1 version.

So back to my first question, is this 2.03 update (the one linked in this thread) going to be compatible with my device?

Yes.  The firmware posted in this board is for the "A" series.

Sorry, I don't understand : this topic is for Rev A. Do you mean that a Rev B FW is suitable for Rev A in this specific case ?
Or is it a mistake ?

Bye

Using a web browser, log into the DNS-320 web UI and navigate to Management > System Management > Firmware Upgrade. This page will display the currently installed firmware version.

I've bumped into a data corruption issue with the 320 on large files. I believe this has been mentioned before and I was wondering if this firmware update addressed this? I saw some mention about 0 byte files on Drag/Drop and SMB copying but not updating of metadata on large files. This is my issue. I was experimenting with adding 700mb and up video files to iTunes and when it updates any metadata, even the year, the file immediately goes to 0 bytes on the NAS and cannot be recovered. I'm currently on 2.02. Does 2.03 address this specific problem? If not I will report it on the wish list.

Anyone else having problems with Dynamic DNS? Since upgrading to 2.03 firmware, I now have the problem that my DDNS host is often update with the LOCAL IP (192.168.0.32) rather than the WAN IP. I have not yet established a pattern to this behaviour but it seems that it can change from one hour to the next with each update from the DNS-320 to the DDNS server.

Hi all,

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware on my DNS-320 and I keep getting the same error message just a few seconds after clicking on Apply : "Upload firmware fail. Please retry again"
The firmware file I select is DNS-320_fw_2.03b03(2.13.0618.2012) with no extension. I also tried selecting the zip file with no success.
H/W version is A2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

What site did you download the firmware from and what browser did you use? I found that downloading zip files using Firefox from specific D-Link site's strip the zip extension, and I have to manually add the extension after downloading to extract the file.

Thanks for replying.

I got the link from ftp://ftp.dlink.eu/Products/dns/dns-320/driver_software/DNS-320_fw_revA1A2_2-03b03_all_en_20121005.zip

and the zip contains 3 files: one with no extension, the release note in doc format and a changes.txt file.
I do use firefox but I don't think the zip file is corrupted since I can see the files inside.
I extract all files to a folder on my local box and then select the file with no extension in the firmware upgrade web ui. After clicking "Apply" I get the message mentioned above. I also tried selecting the zip file in the web ui but got the same result.

Thanks

That site works much faster here in sweden.. But none of the firmwares will uploads to my NAS
I got upload firmware fail...
Is it some special setings to do in the NAS before? I login as admin.
The NAS is brand new bought it for 2 weeks ago.
If I cant get it to work I had to send it to D-Link :(
