Title: First Impressions
Post by: davevt31 on December 13, 2021, 01:07:43 PM
Received E15 Extender today, used App to set it up.  Was easy setup using WIFI and QR code from setup guide.  Connected in just a few minutes and then I moved to location where it will stay.

THEN....

I upgraded the firmware using the web interface on the extender itself, upgrade went fine but when it rebooted and came back up the was no white status light but the was a white strength indicator light.  Router interface showed no extender, so I unplugged it, reset it to defaults and set it up from scratch again.  I am stuck with a blinking yellow light so I have to play with it some more.

I reset it using the WPS button, got a white status light and 3 white lights for strength. Just noticed that the firmware that downloads from the support site says R15 on it, shouldn't make a difference but It is not showing up as an extender in the app or the webui.  Going to try the older firmware and see if it works better.

Downgraded firmware with no issues, but still does not list the extender in app or webui.  Going to reset extender again and do wireless setup using the QR code.

Support site is fixed... :-X

I believe there is an issue with the R15 not displaying extenders properly. I will report the issue.

Downloaded new file, stuck with blinking yellow led after doing setup wirelessly.  Will reset and do a wired one like have been for my X1870 extender when I have been swapping it around between routers.

The R15 shows my X1870 as an unknown extender in the app.

Went back to 1.02.10 firmware, reset extender, did wireless setup and have white status light and 3 white bars.  Not listed as an extender, going to let it set a while and see if it shows up. It DID show up as an extender after initial out of the box setup that's how I upgrade firmware, BUT it's not showing up now.

Also, going to reboot router when there are less people around.  Seems strange that it would be seen after first setup but not now.

Rebooted router from web interface (which didn't work properly) so I cycled the power of it and extender.  All back up and running but listing under the extenders in app or webui.

Since I am screwing around, I upgraded the firmware from the extenders webui, update was successful but now I have no status led but I do have white signal strength led.

I was able to access some of the hidden web pages on the extender (system, statistics, etc.)  On the statistics page it doesn't show a listing for 5 GHz traffic, also not seeing any traffic movement.

I used the WPS method when the front LED Turned amber. Connected in a few seconds. Then placed it at its remote location. Working well though signal LEDs flucutates between 1 and 2 bars. Distance from R15 is about 30 feet.

Since I am playing I will try that method to see if I get a connection.

Did Factory reset and config with WPS.  Have white status light and 3 white leds for strength nut still no listing for extender in app or webui.

I think I will hook it up with my X5460 and see if it shows up there.

Sync'd right up with the X5460, it shows as an extender on the home menu, but does not show up in the mesh network page.
Going back to the R15 and leave it there for a while.

Did reset of my R15 router (man that thing is flaky) manually put back all my entries and finally got it working correctly after a bunch of reboots another wizard setup run and lastly a total power down.  None of my wireless clients would connect after the reboots from configuration only the power cycle got everything running correctly.  Plugged in the E15 used WPS setup and now I show it as an extender in the app and webui.

It seems like you encountered some issues after upgrading the firmware on your E15 Extender. After the upgrade, the white status light was missing, but you noticed a white strength indicator light instead. Additionally, the router interface did not show the extender, prompting you to reset it to defaults and set it up again. However, you are currently facing a blinking yellow light and need further troubleshooting. It would be helpful to provide more details about your setup and any specific steps you have taken so far, so that I can assist you in resolving the issue.

It seems, that you have a need to necro old posts and add spam to them.  If you really must know, we were beta testing new routers and doing stuff to see how well they worked.  Why don't you take your garbage spam to some other forum.
