Hi All,
I have a DIR-825 R1 with firmware 3.0.0 set up as a Wi-Fi extender. It is working fine so far, however, my question is that there is a newer firmware version out, V3.0.2 which, when I install via the DIR-825 interface, does not seem to connect to the access point I am extending from. I am not sure whether this is because of a bad download, so I have downloaded it manually from the correct website, which is ftp://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-825/Firmware/
Does anyone here perhaps have experience with this specific unit and firmware V3.0.2 who can confirm that is does work as a Wi-Fi extender with V3.0.2 installed or is V3.0.2 a problem?

Have you tried a Factory reset and setup from scratch on the 825 to see if this may help?
Try as a quick test, disable WPA security on the host AP, then try to connect the 825 to the AP to see if it connects with no security.
Re-enabled WPA after testing.

Good day sir,
Thank you for the prompt reply! If you are referring to a factory reset after upgrading to V3.0.2 then yes I did do that.
As for disabling WPA on the host AP, regrettably that is not possible as the host AP is not accessible by the user, only the company that provides it (Vodacom).

You may need to downgrade back to the prior version that was working. Otherewise you might contact your regional D-Link office to see if they have any help or information regarding the newer version.
This forum was for the 825 Rev A, B and C however those have long since been retired by D-Link here in the USA. All other Revs are handled in there perspective regions.

Fair enough. I cannot find a forum in South Africa for this specific model, but all good, its working on V3.0.0 so I'll just leave it at that. Thanks for your time and assistance
