Title: 1080p sensor, software defaults to 720p, WTAF?
Post by: robinbanks on November 21, 2020, 12:10:52 PM
I understand it's probably to avoid latency issues, however why release a camera with a 1080p sensor and then have your software default to 720p? If the end user wound up having latency issues leave it up to them to downgrade their resolution to 720P before you cripple it for those of us who aren't having latency issues, not that I can say I'm that surprised though, in today's world where our bleach is labeled with "do not drink"... Is there any way I can change what resolution the software defaults to?

I don't have this camera, but which software is defaulting to 720p?

Are you over cellular connection or wifi?

The current Android and iOS D-Link camera apps. If I use TinyCam I can default the camera resolution to 1080, but in the manufacturers own software it auto-nerfs to 720, absolutely ridiculous

Yeah I am not sure why they are doing that. You can select 1080 but it doesn't save it. This issue has been reported and hopefully they will correct it.

I have reported this issue in 2 months ago but they still said MyDlink using 720P on saving the bandwidth.
This is really rediculas!!  We choose this OutDoor CoLor NighVision DCS-8630LH is for capture details at far distance.  However, the recordings quality is not Full HD.
