Title: View DCS8000LH camera on a Desktop/Laptop

Hi. i am aware that with firmware ver. 2 and up, mydlink.com won't work. but i really want to display my camera on my PC. any other ways?

Unfortunately not. The 8xxxLH series is app-only and D-Link closed up RTSP and 3rd party support.

But...why did they do that? for security?

Honestly, I do not know why. I am frustrated myself. I am sure security is part of it but I believe they just wanted something user friendly for non-technical users so they made it app-only with cloud recording (similar to Wyze and other competitors).  At least with the 8000LH they should have kept RTSP an option since it does not have an SD card slot so it makes customers use cloud. It is a pretty good little camera hardware-wise but very limiting for more "advanced users".
