Trying to use DWA-171 in my new PC with Windows 10. At firs I try to use the DWA-171 windows built-in driver but with it I cannot connect to wifi at all. Then I install the driver in the cd that comes with the device which is older than the windows built-in driver version. This time I can connect to wifi but whenever I play games, any games wifi connection will drop and I cannot re-connect to it until I quit the game. Seems like both drivers cannot work properly in Windows 10. I was using the same DWA-171 device with Windows 7 before this and had no problem at all.
This is the windows built-in driver
Manufacturer: D-Link Corporation
Description: D-Link DWA-171 Wireless AC Dual Band Adapter
Driver version: 1030.11.503.2016
Physical address (MAC): ?80-26-89-EE-F6-F7
And this is the driver in the cd
Manufacturer: D-Link Corporation
Description: D-Link DWA-171 Wireless AC Dual Band Adapter
Driver version: 1030.2.731.2015
Physical address (MAC): 80-26-89-EE-F6-F7

What happens if you configured the main host router for single mode N, manual channel 48 and OPEN Security as a quick test on 5Ghz. Re-enable WPA2 after testing.
Does it connect to 2.4Ghz with same problem.

What is single mode N? I can't find any router setting matching that name. I tried manual channel 48 same problem. Using open security made it worse, can't even connect to router at all.
2.4Ghz does not have this problem of disconnecting when a game is running but I need 5Ghz because it's too much interference around my apartment.

Does the adapter work at a different location with a different wifi AP source?
Try at a friend, family or neighbors place and test...

But the adapter works flawlessly with 5Ghz in the same PC dual booted into Windows 7 or my laptop with Windows 7.

Be sure to turn off any Power Management features for the adapter.
You might review this and see if this might help with Windows 10:

I was seeing issues on windows 10 with my 192 adapter. Did this and helped a lot.

I would contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information on this. I presume this is a problem with WIndows 10 and the 171 adapter...
