Post by: Dozierm on October 28, 2015, 03:32:52 PM
My DGl-550 has the Current Firmware Version : 1.13
The issue is with dropping WiFi Connection to my TV, Ipad , Roku. When this happen I have to Reboot both Cable Modem and DGL-5500 to get all WIFI connection back. This seem to to be happen every week. What is sad is I have been a D-link customer for many years with 8 different Routers, Extenders , WIFI Cards. I have never had this much trouble has with the DGL-5500

What is the Fix for DGL-5500 dropping Wireless devices other than a weekly reboot?

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

Where is the router located? Besure it's centrally located on the main floor on in a open well ventilated area.
How many devices are connected to the router when this happens? One at a time or several?
Is the routers web page still accessible via wired LAN connection? Same for wired LAN PC?

Fuzzy
Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch? YES
Cable Modem 150 MD up and 15 MB Down > Brighthouse Cable

Note D-link I was on the phone with support last year and is set up DGL-5500 per there recommendations
This issue is happening more and more. When I reboot both Cable Modem and DGL-5500 then all is well

I check the routers logs and does not show any issue.
Router is pass-worded very strong so no one outside can get it. I've had good friends >white hats try and they tell me I did good.
I help others setup there networks and would be nice if D-link would step-up to the plate and fix this issue.

This may be my last D-link purchase.

Are devices only connected to the 2.4Ghz radio or both radios?
Rokus have there own wifi extender or source I believe. Ensure this is disabled. Test with the Roku complately OFF.

The times I have had my 5500 online I haven't seen any wireless drops or disconnects it's been solid in regards to wireless. SB is a different story.

What modem do you have? Maybe some kind of IP conflict? Does it ONLY effect wireless? Not wired?
