I am setting up a new router with NAT. I have 2 WANs, one static, one dynamic (secondary internet connection).
The static WAN connection has gateway internal & external address, plus 16 additional IP addresses set up in DNS for different services, on different internal servers. Internal servers all have 10.x.x.x IP addresses.
In the previous router, I could add all 16 aliases to the WAN, and then use them in the firewall configuration to ensure the wan-lan communication.
However, the dlink dsr-500 only appears to allow max. 8 IP Aliases (when adding the 9th, the interface dropdown only has 'optional WAN', and saves as 'WAN 2' - when i edit that IP alias, i can pick 'WAN 1' again, but it says that the maximum aliases have been added.
Alternatively, could i use Routing to direct traffic from the wan (static IP address x.x.x.215 to 10.x.x.25, for SMTP, for example)? When i try adding this rule, it says 'Selected interface does not have a valid IP address' (unless this means a different issue...)
Question: is there a way to add more than 8 IP aliases? If not, what am i doing wrong with the static routes?

				Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)
- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
 - Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
 - What region are you located?

Any thing in the User Manual regarding this?
I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

				Hardware version A1.
i have updated to latest firmware (1.09B38_WW).
I am located in Canada.
I see nothing in the User Manual about a limit to IP aliases.
I will try contacting support by phone.

Let us know how it goes. Thank you.

Looks like the 8 IP alias is a hard limit for the DSR model, need to go to a DFL model for more. I will just try to consolidate to 8 IP Aliases...
