I am trying to connect my Xbox 360 slim and it is failing to get an IP.  Everything else hooks up just fine.. why is Xbox giving me a hard time?

 Silly Xbox.

I always find that doing a factory reset of the xbox network settings solves most issues.

same here. I set up a DCHP reservation on the router for the XBOX and when I seem to have issues i reset the XBOX network settings and it usually corrects itself without having to mess with the modem or router.

Ya I think there is a bug in the Xbox networking that for some reason doesn't clear out correctly unless a reset is performed. I was moderate NAT the other night after putting on a different router while the xbox was off. I turned the xbox on later and had moderate NAT. Did a reset and was OPEN after that.

I recommend always doing a factory reset on xbox consoles before installing a new router or making IP address changes. Xboxes wont clear out any previous networking history unless it's factory reset.  :-\

				Any status on this?  ???

Does it seem to happen after 24hrs? If so, sounds like a DHCP lease issue. Keep the DHCP reservation but set the IP on the 360 to static.
