Title: DIR826L 5GHz a lot issue, couldn't contact D-Link UK customer support to help..
Post by: CTChan2013 on October 21, 2013, 09:07:20 AM
My DIR-826L 5GHz wireless N network has been configured correctly. But the signal strength is really bad, only get signal maximum 5 feets away from the router.

All of my devices supported 5Ghz wireless N network CANNOT join the DIR-826L 5GHz network more than 5 feets away. 3 feets away already shown one bar left on my device. I've tested on my iPhone 5s, iPad, iMac, etc, none of them can use the 5Ghz signal unless I stand right next to the router...

Saw it on this forum regarding the firmware issue, tried upgrade / downgrade version 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, no luck at all. My hardware version is A01, tried Factory Reset -> Flash Firmware -> Factory Reset -> configure from scratch, problem is still occur. Is there anyway to solve this issue?

I thought it may hardware issue so I was trying to contact D-Link technical support (UK), but it is ridiculously using 0871 number, which charging me £0.10 per minute, called them but I got hold on the line more than 20 mins without anyone answer my call, only waiting already charged me £2.

Then I tried e-support from D-Link UK support site, once I have registered and try to login, I got this error from their website: "Application Launch Error. The requested EnterpriseOne application cannot be launched. Please contact your system administrator".......

Is there anyone here can help me out...? :'(

Have you tried a different browser for the e-support site?
"The Self Service Portal is only compatible with the Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers (version 6, 7 or 8) and Firefox 3.0.3."

If you've tried all the different versions of FW and did a factory reset after each one and the range on the 5Ghz and the devices are doing this beyond 5Ghz, theres probably a HW problem with the router and needs to be RMAd.

There should be free phone support if this router is fairly new...and in warranty.

FurryNutz, thanks for the reply :)

It is still within warranty. But UK Dlink does not have any free phone number at all.

You are correct, eSupport can open by IE without problem, but there is another problem occur when I try to login - "Sign In Error:  User sign in has been disabled. Please contact the System Administrator."..

If it looks like HW issue, I will try to re-register the e-support to see can I login, then get the replacement... How comes D-link UK customer support so difficult to reach..

I don't know, there has been some changes to D-Links main web sites, could have effected the entire process. If you can't seem to get through, send a email to [email protected] and let them know that the UK site sign in process is not working and see if they can help relay some information to the UK site people. This email is for D-Links FB page here in the U.S. so you might not get a lot of help however request that they relay to someone in the UK about your problem. Might provide some contact info.

Keep us posted if you can get through...
