Title: Network Printing

Hello,

I have a HP LaserJet 1320N, which has a Directjet card in it (RJ-45). I can not see the printer on my network. I changed the RJ-45 cables and changed ports on the DIR-868L router.

On my old router a Netgear N-150 router, the printer could be seen on the network. As a test I reconnected my old router and was able to printer off of it.

Is there as configurations I need using for a wired network printer on the Gigabit LAN Port? Please assist.

I'm not familiar with the printer, but does it display its IP address? If so, can you ping it?

This is a standard HP Laser printer with a network port. I can not ping the printer now as I was able to on my old router I replaced yesterday. Also, it does display the IP address.

Does the printer's IP address belong to the same subnet as that of your DIR-868L? If, for example, the printer's IP address is 192.168.1.101 and the DIR-868L uses the default 192.168.0.0/24 subnet, then they're invisible to each other. (It could happen if you used to set the printer's IP address statically.)

The printers IP address is 192.168.1.25 and the DIR-868L IP address is 192.168.0.1 and the DCHP Range is .100 - .199. So, I just need to change my printers IP address to 192.168.0.25?

Yes, that would probably solve the issue. If you don't require a static IP on your printer--that is, if your computers automatically detect it regardless of IP--you could also select DHCP (automatic IP address assignment).

My HP LJ p2014N works well with my router. Ya, IP addressing needs to be in the same pool as the router. I recommend reserving the IP address for the printer ON the router.
