Title: After upgrade to 1.10 can no longer log in with android tablet
Post by: bigdave240 on August 14, 2013, 07:47:02 AM
when i got the dap-1320 i used my tablet to get to the setup and it worked fine. I could log in using the ip address but not the supplied name but that is ok. not a big deal. after testing it a bit i found that there was an update to 1.10 so i downloaded it and did the upgrade. The dap-1320 still worked after the upgrade but i could not get past the admin log in screen when using my tablet with chrome, opera, the standard browser or dolphin. I could get to it via my pc and it looked fine after the update. I tried setting a password but that doesn't work either. on the tablet i tried setting the agent to desktop, rebooting etc. when i enter the password it then does a dns search and cant find anything. very weird. Still like the thing but it would be better if it still was accessable from my tablet. but as long as it works i lilke it. really extended my network to the front of my house well.

I would follow this and see if you can re-load the upgraded FW:
FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

Might try downgrading.

Let us know how it goes.

I rolled back to the 1.00 version and can now access it from my tablet, phone, other android devices. Curious about enhancements that are in 110 though. but if it works ok on this version i will probably leave it here. pretty neat little device. I ended up putting it in my garage on its own ssid so i can just switch to it when i am working in the garage. works all the way across the street at the neighbors house. very cool.

Wonder if it works with QRS mobile (Android or ios), or with the iPhone's stock browser. Anyone actually notice said performance improvements?

Update:
Well I can't successfully login via IE9 nor my mobile browsers. I get the login page, and it appears to be successful but then it cannot find the url: //xxx/index (with xxx being the name of your device).

I can login via QRS Mobile, but only limited settings are available to be changed.

The unit is working, and being that it retained my settings, I'm leaving it for now. When I'm ready to roll-back or update the firmware, I'll reset the unit so that it has no password in hopes of that getting me to the UI.

Also did you factory reset the DAP before the upgrade and do one more after the upgrade then setup from scratch?
What browser did you use to perform the upgrade?

Canada, used IE9 to perform the upgrade, no I (purposely) didn't do a factory reset at all. I only took a backup (config_rpt) of v1.0 incase it wiped-out my settings.

I recommend that you do a factory reset, re-send the FW update file, after that completes, do one more factory reset and then set it up from scratch and test again for this problem...

Keep us posted.

Here's what I found:

Having reset the router (with v1.1 installed), from http://dlinkap1fe2.local (leaving the password field blank), when you select Login, the UI takes you to http://dlinkap/index.htm and fails, when it should be taking you to http://dlinkap1fe2.local/index.htm which when entered manually properly takes you to the new UI.

From the UI Index screen, this same issue affects all other UI screens, ie, Network, htm, Extwireless.htm, etc (noting that all other UI screens appear to be Case sensative requiring an upper-case for the 1'st character).

What's funny is that the default name is dlinkap

Anyway, I rolled-back to v1.0 and all is ok again.

To the both of you, I have received word from D-Link that there is a beta build that they would like to offer to see if he helps with this issue. Please let me know if you are interested in testing please when you get time. I'm hoping this will fix this issue seen in v1.10.

Flashed this and while it seems to work ok with regard to normal operations it still won't work from my tablet. I get to the log in page and from there it goes to search the internet for the address like a dns issue? could be a browser issue too i guess. the tablet has chrome firefox and dolphin on it. they all gave the same indications. i am going to leave this version on for a while and see how the performance is. there is always a pc that i can get to the dap if i really needed to. let me know if there is anything you would like me to try.

Does the tablet get normal internet correctly and only trying to gain access to the DAPs web page the only problem?

Is a reserved IP address set up for the tablet on the main host router?
What IP address are you using to get to the DAPs web page?
What model is this tablet?

i have tried both a static and dynamic ip for the tablet. its a motorola xoom running android 4.3 which is a custom rom. but my phone does the same thing which is why i was thinking it may be a browser issue since they both use chrome. i use 192.168.1.112 to get to the dap which works from my laptop and in fact gets to the dap login page but no further.

does the default dap IP address of 192.168.0.50 work? I presume that since you changed to match your host pool address it won't. What about 1.50?

What model is the phone?

no n.50 doesn't work and the phone is a motorola razr with stock rom on it running jelly bean. totally untouched

What is the SSID configuration of the main host router and DAP? Using same name for both or different? What mode is the DAP in currently? AP or extender? What security modes are u using on main hoat router and DAP?

Can you try using same SSID name and PW, different channels on both as a test? Might try WPA2 only...

not sure how any of that would make a difference but i tried it except for the channel change. Not sure how to do that on the dap as i thought it just repeated what it received? and also on the dap its either wpa/wpa2 wep or none.

If in extender mode then yes, the DAP should use the same channel as the main host router. If in AP mode, test using a different channel.

I'm curious if you can access the DAPs web page when in AP mode, just as a test.

I am wondering why you can't on v1.10 and you can on v1.0x.  ???

I don't see any way of putting it into AP mode? i think its only a repeater. I also don't see any way of changing the extended channel, it appears to be locked into the same as it receives which makes sense if it is truly a repeater. I rolled back to 1.0 and it still works fine from my tablet and phone. it just seems that the newer versions were not optimized for anthing other than IE?

Ya if it's a repeater, it's supposed to lock on to the same channel as the main host router. I was curious if the 1320 had an AP feature too.

Possible they did something from v1.0x to v1.1x.

I'll pass this along...If you need too, can always go back to v1.01 if that works well for you.

Sort of gave up on it. Using an old powerline modem and old router to extend the network. Works good enough in the garage that way.

Might test the unit out in a different location with loading the latest FW sir.

I wonder if there could some incompatibilities with your main host router as well.  ::)
