Title: DIR-645 DLNA server for Samsung TV (RESOLVED)
Post by: WarriorMacK on February 22, 2013, 01:20:19 PM
Hi,

I recently bought DIR-645 and I have problem setting DLNA server (external USB disk). DLNA server is visible for my Samsung TV (ue40es6800) but there are no files. I tested DLNA server with Windows Media Player and LG TV and it is OK. I also tested Mobile phone Samsung Ace with Allshare App and it also not shows any files on DLNA server.
Is this problem with AllShare or Dir-645?
Can anyone help me? I searched this forum and google without any results.

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?

I presume there are files on the USB disk?
Is the USB drive connected to the back of the router and is recognized by the 645?
What is the drive size of the USB drive?
What is this ALLShare app? The only app that i know that is supported by the router is SharePort.

Hardware Version : A1
Firmware Version : 1.03 (updated from 1.01 since is not working either)
Region Poland :)
Tried both wireless and wired with the same result

Files are on USB disk correctly recognized by DIR-645 (I can access FTP etc)
Size is 500GB, disk is with external power supply

AllShare™ is Samsung Electronics trademark name which includes DLNA as well as other related features. (Wiki quote)

Previously I was using DLNA server on my PC
http://www.samsung.com/global/allshare/pcsw/quickguide.html
and PS3 Media Server without any problems

Also Windows Media Player and LG TV see server and files on DIR-645 DLNA server correctly. The problem is Samsung TV is not seeing any files. This is not problem with files formt (extension), allready tested it.

I presume your version of FW is from the EU region?

How is the Samsung TV connected? Wired or wireless.

I presume that if other devices are seeing the drive on the 645 correctly and the Samsung isn't, we need to look at the TV and how its configured, connected and set up. I presume the Samsung TV is fully supporting of the connections and seeing DNLA content. Please refer to the Mfr to verify what this model TV supports and make sure the TV is updated as well if there is any FW available for it.

FW 1.03 is for US for my region latest FW is DIR-645_fw_revA_1-01B06_all_en_20110718 (not working for this issue)

I tried both wired and wireless (currently wired). If you can tell me any options to look on DIR-645 to make it work I would be glad.

Samsung TV (ue40es6800) is fully updated. Problem is that DLNA supposed to be a standard and since I see DLNA server maybe there are some options I can try or am I f.....?

Sorry I just spent money from my rise and I not happy about it.

D-Link Poland DIR-645 Site (http://ftp://ftp.dlink.pl/dir/dir-645/driver_software/)
If you have received FW from this site and loaded this version then your ok.

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
If IPv6 is an option on the router, select Local Connection Only or Disable IPv6 options under Setup/IPv6.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding rules.

Set current Time Zone, Date and Time. Use an NTP server feature. Tools/Time.

Link>Wireless Installation Considerations (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48327.0)
What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer (http://www.metageek.net/) to find out. How many?
Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced.
Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition, and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Enable WMM Enable (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50738.0) Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

If any of the suggestions do not help get the Samsung TV, going, i'm going to have to recommend that you get in contact with Samsung and see if they can help out as well. If your other devices are using the USB drive connected to the 645 correctly and the Samsung TV isn't, the problem is with the TV.

Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. DONE
If IPv6 is an option on the router, select Local Connection Only or Disable IPv6 options under Setup/IPv6.

Set current Time Zone, Date and Time. Use an NTP server feature. Tools/Time. DONE

Did I miss something? I can post more screens if you think it can help.

Still not working :(

I contacted Samsung they do not guarantee support for DLNA servers other than their app AllShare :(.

IF the other devices are seeing the DLNA items and the Samsung TV is not, we have configured the router effectively to support the DNLA items, it's the TV that is the problem. You'll need to refer back to the Mfr of the TV to get help with this particular TV. There is no other settings on the router than can make the TV work. The TV needs either configuration or is faulty. The router is working as designed.

You might want to test this out with newer FW:
http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/home-solutions/connect/routers/dir-645-wireless-n-home-router-1000 (http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/home-solutions/connect/routers/dir-645-wireless-n-home-router-1000)

If you decide to upgrade, please follow this:
 FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

Let us know if any of the suggestions or upgrading helps...
You may want to phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask about this as well.

DLT reported that this issue was resolved with a TV firmware update, not on the router.

Are you still using v1.03 on the router?

Hi

I have been experiencing the same problem for over a couple of years now, and playing with the settings and various firmware updates on the TV and router just don't help  :-\

Basically Samsung Smart TV is able to show and stream the contents from any other DLNA server (Windows PC, Android phone, etc.). On the other hand, media files shared on DIR-645 USB port are accessible by all other clients. It's just the Smart TV and the router that don't like each other  :(

Any input would be appreciated.

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.

Possible incompatibility between the router and this particular TV.

Thanks FurryNutz

I'm based in Australia, currently on US firmware 1.04.B11. Have given all other US and AU versions a crack.

Enabling/disabling the options have not helped either. I have actually tried every single fix in this threat and the others.

I'd also say it's an unresolved incompatibility  :-\

Cheers
