Recently I bought a Windows 8 (64bits) computer, which is now part of my home network, but it has problems with Shareport. The other computers can be easily connected to a USB printer on my DIR-825 (HW B1) router, but the W8 computer refuses to completely install Shareport (both the CD version and the latest download v1.17).  I also tried Shareport-Plus v4.11 (found on the DIR 835 page), which did install correctly, but was still unable to see the USB printer. What can be done? Can D-Link provide a new version of Shareport? ???

What model printer are you trying to connect.

I presume that since Windows 8 is fairly new that DLink might not have updated the Shareport SW or even support it currently.

I recommend that you phone contact D-Link support, level 2 or higher and see what the say about Windows 8 support.

Does the SW work with say windows 7 or older Windows version? I should. Mine works on 7 x64 using v4.11.

I am using a HP Photosmart D6160. It is possible to print from other PC's by using Shareport v1.17; those PC run XP and W7 (both 64 and 32 bits). The FW version is 2.05EU.
As suggested by you, I talked to the NL helpdesk and they referred me to a Polish ftp-site: ftp.dlink.pl/software/ for downloading the 1.20 version of Shareport. V1.20 was downloaded and it did install correctly.  :D  I also noticed a other version of Shareport (SharePortClient_sw_revNA_1-17B01_all_multi_20100513.zip) and downloaded this as well. This did also install without problems and resembles my other SP software. So I keep this one ;D
 Problem solved!
