Okay... first time poster here...
I have a DIR655 Extreme N. I have had it for over a year and have really enjoyed it until today. I am all of a sudden getting an error "Wireless Radio: Init failed".
I changed no settings until the error popped up.
I tried upgrading the firmware ... no joy. I tried every fix I could find on the internet, no joy. Is this a hardware failure from experience or is there something obvious I am missing?

You need a replacement.
Please call 877-453-4565. Tell them you have wireless init fail.

I have tried calling that number for the past 14 hours ... no joy again. Busy signal. >:(
Any other means of communicating with them?

This is actually one of the very few RMA's that I've seen :-)
So I guess the 1-2% rule does apply for Dlink.

LOL, I just know what that error means.

Slow day on the board, isn't it
No more karma enhancement, I' m afraid :) Can't you just put some bugs into 1.22? ;D

Hi, I've been having a similar problem. Just purchased the router 3 weeks ago. It was fine for about a week or two, other than a few deauthenication disconnects a day, then last week Init failed. A power cycle would bring it back up for a few hours to maybe a day then fail again until rebooted, or just changing the wireless settings from on to off.
Here's the log from last fail.
[INFO] Fri Jan 30 22:25:20 2009 Allowed configuration authentication by IP address x.x.x.x
[INFO] Fri Jan 30 21:06:22 2009 Time synchronized

[INFO] Fri Jan 30 14:42:23 2009 Bringing up WAN using DHCP
[INFO] Fri Jan 30 14:42:23 2009 WAN interface cable has been connected
[INFO] Fri Jan 30 14:42:23 2009 LAN interface is up
[INFO] Fri Jan 30 14:42:23 2009 LAN Ethernet Carrier Detected
[INFO] Fri Jan 30 14:42:22 2009 Device initialized
[INFO] Fri Jan 30 14:42:22 2009 Failed to start wireless
[WARN] Fri Jan 30 14:42:21 2009 Wireless schedule init
I'm not sure if it's the router or the modem. I use satellite internet for now (wireless coming very soon :)) and its been nothing but headaches. Also in the log you'll see that the time goes way off for some reason.
ISP: Xplornet
modem: Surfbeam SM2000
Any thoughts?

I got this message to.
It means that I should look for another brand. It happned without a reason.
How could I know for sure if it is hardware problem or just bad config.
If someone could advise me I would apreciate.

It means you should call the tech support number, tell them the error message and they will go from there. It will most likely result in an RMA for that unit as it is a Hardware failue.
