Title: IPTV (multicast) not working with 4.11 firmware (dir615 D1)
Post by: tojla on January 31, 2011, 07:14:16 AM
After upgrading firmware from ver 4.00 to 4.11 I can't watch IPTV anymore with VLC. With version 4.00 IPTV works over router (wireless or cable) fine but because of some disconecting trouble I upgraded to ver 4.11. Setup is the same as it was in ver 4.00 including Multicast parameter.
Does anyone has any idea how to manage this issue?

Hi,

For the same reason I upgrade to 4.11 and the PPTP VPN stop work then I downgrade to 4.10 and this fix the problem with the VPN ;) you can try to downgrade to 4.10 and try IPTV again ;)

Are you sure your re-enabling Multicast StreamsEnable Multicast Streams? Its OFF by default if you do a factory reset or FW update.

Also, would disabling Unicasting under Internet settings help? Always wondered what that did. Is it just for DHCP request through WAN? Or does it have anything to do with traffic request?

Yes, I enabled Multicast Streams. I went back to ver. 4.00 and Multicast was working OK. The trouble with ver. 4.00 is that occasionally lost IP connectivity and you need to obtain IP address. Now I'm on DD_WRT and so far IPTV on wire works OK. I would rather use the original firmware, so if you'll find the solution I'll be very glad.

Try setting up Static IP addresses on the router for all of your connected devices. This might help having to re-obtain addresses on the OEM Fw.
