Title: Problems pinging other computers
Post by: mori0043 on September 01, 2008, 05:43:21 PM
Hi, I am not sure where to post this so this seemed like the most appropriate spot.

I have a DI-524 router and two laptops (XP sp2) on the network. I have been using this setup for a year or so with WEP encryption. I recently updated the encryption to WPA. Both computers can connect to the internet and can ping the router.

The problem is that I can only ping from one laptop to another sporadically. It seems that whenever I go into hibernate it then takes about 10 minutes before I can ping. I am not sure what else to do... If I move back to WEP encryption then everything is fine.

Thanks in advance!

Well if it works with WEP and not with WPA, I would just stick with WEP.

Not all wireless cards are compatible with WPA.

Forgot to post the answer... there is a hotfix for this problem in XP. I installed sp3 and everything now works fine.
