After going through these posts yesterday when my old DWA-130 C1 wouldn't work with an OS upgrade, I was ready to give up on D-Link, but I tried a newer one (E1) and it worked great right out of the box. I guess the older versions just don't work with newer OS'en. So unless you have a lot of time on your hands and like to fight with an old adapter, just use the E1 or greater.
That's the problem with these message boards - they give the impression that products don't work. I'll wager the E1 won't work with Windows 8 (which won't be out for a couple of years). Time is money.
