Without looking at the device how can I tell if a hard drive has failed, or if it's rebuilding, etc.?  It's locked up in a storage room so I don't really look at it very often, and I can't get email alerts to work right now, so is there another way you can be notified or see if there is a problem via a D-Link software application or something?  Thanks for your help and time!

Your options are: email alerts, drive LEDs and the status screen in the web interface.

Well, I can't get email elerts to work or that would be the best way to know by getting daily reports. I was hoping D-Link had an application that you could run that would notify you. I entered all the correct information for my email server but it doesn't work.  Someone said that some ISPs block port 25 and that causes the D-Link email notification not to work.  The drive is locked away so I never really see it.  What do the LED lights do if there is a drive crash?  I guess I will have to just look in on it every once in a while and check on it or use the Status Screen.  Is there a way to test to see what ports are blocked? Thanks!

If you have an ISP that blocks port 25, you're out of luck with the DNS-321, you can't change the port.

The LED is supposed to go red I believe, but it could be pink (blue and red).
