Any status on this? New FW is available... ::)

FurryNutz..

I have a 30' Cat6.. I'll reinstall both my AC1200, re-install build 10 and try it. For what it's worth, as I said.. with build 9 and original 1.10b4 I get a 5GHz signal of high 30's to high 60's signal strength (D-Link software) and a stable signal for my HDTV.. and gaming. No noticeable glitches as I can tell...

It might take until Sunday for me to play with this..

First a direct line of sight at about 12' and even move it closer... to include side by side (a few inches). My CATV has a ubee router in bridge mode, then my 5500. I don't have a way to remove that one..it's in bridge mode but there is still a low 2.4GHz signal per inSSIDer. My other (telephone) router has wireless off. I can disconnect that one during testing. There are no other 5GHz signals in or around my home. I'm single.. the only other wireless during this is a cell phone.. connected 5GHz. I can limit other connection when testing, no AP's.

I have 'inSSIDer' installed on my android cell phone. Possibly this also helps.. I did it 4 times  to see if the dBm readings were similar each time, they are. Next to the router: -45dBm, At the other side of the wall from the router:  -49dBm, mid hallway (not very long) -62dBm and next to the USB receiver (that's on top of a table): -69dBm. (1.10B09)

I read and have thought about router distance from the other stuff.. mine is on the other end of the table, but the cat cable(35") and power cord supplied are not long enough to move it far... I wonder why they don't include longer ones?

FurryNutz...

whew.. I feel like I've been doing this all day, because for the most part I have… LOL
I moved my router to a direct line of sight giving it about a 16 foot distance. What a day…
I changed to the security settings that you recommended and with build 10 I did see a slight improvement, but I still had intermittent audio only, or sporadic connections using the 5 GHz signal. I should add that at least after I had a line of site and the adjustment changes you recommended I was able to watch TV a little bit better. Obviously being digital, it's either on or off. So I do realize that some of the pixilation that I see on occasion is not from the router.

This probably needs to be posted under the D-Link wireless AC1200 dual band adapter section. But as I had stated as a trial I installed my TP-Link and 600 dual band, USB wireless receiver and today I uninstalled that and reinstalled my D-Link AC1200 dual band wireless receiver. Having had build 9 still installed, when I installed the AC1200 I kept getting an unidentified network using the 5 GHz band. No connectivity problems with the 2.4 GHz signal. This is a frustrating problem that I've been dealing with for a couple of hours.

I reset the router and installed build 10. I was getting similar results for my connectivity with the 5 GHz signal. So even though I saw slight improvement. With the changes you suggested and a direct line of sight, I decided to reinstall 1.10b04, and all my connectivity came back, including the 5 GHz signal, still using the D-Link AC1200. I'm left a little confused as to why the TP link dual band adapter was able to hold a usable 5 GHz signal with build 9 and my D-Link AC1200 did not even get a good connection, just unable to identify network. I even used the Windows connection repair and it didn't help.

This is a lot of work. Testing the router, clearing and switching out FW's. I'm glad to help, and I surely want the best results from this router. I'm a gamer, not a heavy one, but I love the StreamBoost operational concept. If there's another way that you would like me to test either build 9 or build 10, or other, Please let me know.

I will install the recently released  v1.11b03 FW and give it a try.

Thanks for posting your results. This will come in handy and should be informative for D-Link to help with the improvements. I have seen some odd issues using my DWA-180 and now that i've pull the 5500 from the main line, I'll be doing some isolated testing using the new 1.11B03 and see what happens. D-Link trying to narrow down if this is something in the FW or a combination of the other adapters and APs and how they are handling the 5500 5ghz signal. Seems complicated for sure. Please post any results you get with the new FW. I'l be starting testing soon here.

Thank you.

Your welcome...

I am also installing 03 to help.. and looking for great results.
I think this router has a lot more potential than a 'Gaming' router. This is a for everyone router. We all have a mix of wireless and it's only going to get even a wider range of home/business use.  Many items have data demands. Yes, Gaming has a higher demand, but.... I can see a lot of buyers liking the concept of StreamBoost.
