Title: Wifi not working after firmware update
Post by: igtoth on November 16, 2017, 12:34:20 PM
Hi just upgraded my DAP-1360 H/W: B1 from original 2.10EN to 2.14. After that WIFI don't work anymore. And I can't find 2.10EN download file to rollback firmware.

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=49573.0)

How are you using the DAP? AP or extender?

Is there a main host router?

Follow this process to do any FW updates:

Model: DAP-1360, H/W: B1

Hardware Version: B1  Firmware Version: 2.14

Brazil

How are you using the DAP? AP or extender?
Wireless client

Is there a main host router?
Yes, ASUS GT-AC5300

I downgraded firmware to 2.11 (still same issue), upgraded again to 2.14 (still same issue).

I have another DAP-1360 working fine with "2.10EN" firmware version.

Both were working ok, just first one stop working after firmware upgrade.

Try resetting and set up from scratch.

Was a factory reset performed after applying the FW update then set up from scratch?

How is the main host router configured on 2.4ghz?

Can you temporarily disable WPA on the 2.4Ghz radio on the main host router and see if the DAP connects? Then test with WPA and TPIK set...

How are you setting it up? WPS or are you logging into the web UI?

Is the 1360 near your router or in the same spot as it was before?

The 2.10 firmware can be found at http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/ (http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/)  it is labeled 2.10 WW

yes if you can explain why, it was working before w/ the topology I have now. Also, the other DAP is working fine with the original fw (which I can't find anywhere in the internet to download).

Possible new FW has some security fixes or implementations that could be a problem. Trying with out security would be one step, then try with WPA and TPIK to see if it connects, then try WPA2 and AES to see as well...

If it fails at any configuration, there would be a problem between the new FW and your main host router. D-link will need to review this...

I am using both as "Wireless Client" .. so a non-wireless equipment can connect via WIFI ...

When I plug the cable in the DAP with the original FW, I can connect to 192.168.0.50, setup and connect to the main router, access internet, everything...

When I plug the cable in the DAP with the upgraded FW, I can coneect to 192.168.0.50, setup, but it is not connecting to the main router, can't access internet, ping, nothing.. Wifi LED don't turn on.

Does the device that is connected to the one not working have a static IP address or does it get DHCP from your router?

I changed both to static.. to avoid ip conflict

Working one: 192.168.0.51
not working: 192.168.0.52

they were setup that way and working before the fw upgrade

You would need to contact D-Link Brazil...Not sure if USA has this version...

I see a v2.10 here:

I do not see 2.10EN in the global database. The EN usually means an English version so I am not sure where. You may need to contact the regional tech support in your area. They may be able to get it for you.

Have you tried WPS?

In the wireless page when you scan for a network you do see your router and connect to it? Or are you just entering the wireless information?

I believe the new FW blocks rollback to <2.11

In the wireless page when you scan for a network you do see your router and connect to it? YES, it shows the routers around this area. (I see wifi led blinking when doing this)

I believe that D-Link support in Brazil needs to review this and see if they can get your 2nd DAP going again. I would have them review this forum thread as well. I'd contact escalated support if needed. Something has happened with recent FW and needs to be looked at more closely...  ::)

I agree.

I requested the 2.10EN firmware file. It may take a day or 2 but I will post it if I get it. I would def call tech support. Updating should not kill the wireless functionality. Try another hard reset.

Oh, are you using any characters in your wifi password other than numbers and letters? If you are, maybe try changing the wifi password on the router and test again.

I will try to contact them during the next business day. But I doubt they would do anything. By law its required to support only for 1yr, I bought it a while back, no longer under warranty.

To perform a new configuration of your equipment follow the instructions below carefully.

Before starting the setup, we recommend that you reset the equipment to ensure it is in the factory state.
Reset: Connect the DAP-1360 to the wall outlet, then press the internal reset button (with toothpick or clips) for exactly 10 seconds.

Please follow the instructions and procedures below to set up your equipment.

1. Connect only your computer with a network cable to the LAN port of the DAP-1360.
* Note: Only the computer must be connected to the DAP-1360 over the network cable during setup.
** Note: Disable your notebook's wireless network if you are using a notebook to perform the setup. Make sure the notebook is connected to the DAP-1360 only with a network cable.

2. To access the DAP-1360's setup screen, you must set the IP address on the computer's network card. Click Start> Control Panel> Network Connections, right-click the Local Area Connection icon, and then click Properties.

3. Locate TCP / IP IPv4 Protocol and click the Properties button.

4. In the new window select the Use the following IP address option in the fields:

I presume that if after all this, the unit is faulty and needs to be replaced.
