The first list below contains published D-Link approved and verified Hard Drives (HDDs). The second list contains HDDs tested by D-Link forum community end users. If you would like to contribute a HDD you personally tested to this list, please post the HDD make/model/capacity, configuration, length of time in use, and observations (e.g. stability, performance, etc) as a reply to this thread.

I would like to add with the WD Red NAS drives, I have four 2TB in RAID 5 config and its connected to a Dell 2716 Gbit switch both NICs (Adaptive Load Balancing), I get on average 40MB/sec. Not bad when I was lucky to get 10 to 15MB/sec on my WD 1.5GB green drives.

I have 2 of these running in Raid 1. Took an age for the set up to run but everything seems to be working fine. I can read and write through direct LAN, I have not tried through a router but doubt this would be an issue.

Western Digital - WD40EFRX - 4TB  Red HDDs

They were sold as a bundle with the NAS through Dabs.com, you already have the 1/2/3 Tb drives in the list as promoted by WD. The 4TB version is now also promoted by them.

For those who are interested in a larger capacity HDD, D-Link UK tested the Western Digital WD60EFRX 6TB RED HDD and added the model to the DNS-345 compatible HDD list in the UK. Please keep in mind that D-Link USA has not yet added this model to the US compatibility matrix.

I installed two WD60EFRX 6TB RED HDDs in my DNS-345 configured as standard volumes and the HDDs have been performing flawlessly for almost two weeks now. Installation and configuration completed without any issues as well.

Seems the the RED is preferred by DNS...Just wondering. Looking at 2 or 3Tb drives.
