No connection all of a sudden?
« on: June 26, 2011, 06:40:45 PM »

I've searched for topics with the same issue but haven't come across any, so, excuse the new thread if there is one.

So, here's the problem. I've had my DIR-615 since December 2009, and have never had an issue to date. I've used my XBOX, Nintendo DS, iPod touch, and my laptop with it with no issues. Well, yesterday, my mom decided to switch ISP's from Qwest DSL to Xfinity and I thought that if I plugged it right in, it would work since the setting's hadn't changed. Well, that didn't work. I can access the internet with the modem plugged straight to the computer but I still need to be able to access wireless to keep the home free of war, :) So thinking that I needed to look at the settings by going to 192.168.1.0, I tried. And tried, and tried again. And it says the same thing every time: that the page is not available. In the past, I've done it to change the settings for my DS but sometimes it took me to the Qwest page for it, which was really weird. But now, I'm stuck. I'm not super technologically inclined but I know my way around a computer and this is really stumping me, so please, if anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

Thanks in advance.

What ISP service do you have? DSL or Cable?
What ISP modem do you have? Stand alone or does it have a built in router by chance?
Default ip address for Dlink routers is 192.168.0.1.

Setup Reserved (Static) IP addresses on the router for your devices.
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Ensure Advanced DNS Service is disabled if you have this option.
Ensure DNS Relay is enabled.
