Title: DIR-605L Wireless Router Acting Weird
Post by: Reverberocket on September 18, 2020, 02:03:41 PM
O.K.  So this post is a shot in the dark.  I know the router is OLD, but I'm so curious as to it's behavior that I'm posting this here in hopes of putting my overwhelmed mind to ease.

Main issue:  I have my router set to enable hidden wireless (SSID).  When initially logging in to the WiFi via Windows 10, I need to scroll to the Hidden Network (as expected).  Once I enter the network ID and Password, I frequently (for a few years now!) see multiples of my network ID name ( WWWcon ).  Up until now, it has been 1 to 4 available connections to WWWcon.  Now I'm seeing up to 11 instances of my SSID.  I don't understand why that is occurring.  Recently, my WiFi connections have been dropping out.  That results in going back in through the network connection icon in the taskbar and selecting one of multiple WWWcon "broadcasts".  (See cropped screenshot)

So why are there so many "broadcasts"?  And why are they even showing up if my SSID is set to now broadcast ( I see the WWWcon availability in other appliances - my phone, my truck, etc.)

2nd issue (minor):  Years ago, the login to the router resulted in the configuration screen presenting in French ( I believe ).  I don't know how this changed from the original English version.  Clicking on the Configurazione Manuale button takes to me to the regular access of the router in English.  Weird.
