WISH Information
« on: August 09, 2011, 03:39:07 PM »

For those curious about WISH, here is some information on using it. It's from the DIR-655 forum however I don't think there is any WISH feature differences between routers:

We can add more information here if needed.

Oh, thanks furry. You didn't have to make a sticky, but thanks. So here are a couple questions:

1. As I understand it, WISH is the priortizing of the traffic between the WLAN and the LAN, like Gamefuel is between the LAN and the WAN. Is this correct?

2. How does the 1-4 priority system of WISH comparem to the 1-200 priority system of Gamefuel? Would VO(Voice) be the same as a Gamefuel 1-25?

3. What are the characteristic of " interactive traffic" that it uses define the automatic classification of WISH? Traffic size? Amount of that type of traffic per second? The type or port?

4. What is the difference between Host 1 and Host 2? The Help menu says "one computer and the other computer". Is Host 1 your computer's IP(192) and Host 2 the public IP(0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255)?

5. Does WISH effect the number of MCS or wireless streams? Or is streams a more general term?

6. Can Wish rules conflict with Gamefuel rules? Another words can you set priority for differently for FTP higher on your WLAN(WISH) then on your LAN(Gamefuel)?

Harry, I would see if you can make contact with "buhyabum" and see if she still around. I'll see if I can get some information on this. Ever since I got the 4500, I've never used it as I do most of my stuff wired so not much experience with it. I'll see if I can get some information. I wanted to make WISH a sticky and leave it open so we can accumulate some information on it and experiences for others to use as the WISH feature is on other routers besides the 4500. This is good information were gathering.
