Image tearing issue with the DCS-930L
« on: July 05, 2016, 11:52:20 AM »

For the last couple of months I've started getting this tearing issue on my camera.

Ignore the red lines, that's just zoneminder trying to show where there is movement.  It will flicker one or sometimes several times for minutes on end then stop and be fine.

The camera is a DSC-930L revision B running the latest firmware. It's connected using a Cat6 cable about 25 feet from the switch.

Not sure if this is a common problem or what I can do about it. Any help will be appreciated.

What do you mean by tearing? Can you provide a capture of when this happens? with out the red lines?

Might try factory reset, manually load FW again, factory reset then set up from scratch. Might try not configuration motion detection at first to see if this happens again, then configure motion detection and test.

Is the camera set up to get a automatic IP address from the main host router or a static IP address ON the camera?
Any other cameras installed or is this the only one?

It's a static IP address and there is one other camera but it's connected though wifi on a different subnet.

Here's a sample of what it's doing.

Sometimes it does it like that just once and then it will be OK for a little while. Other times it will tear or flicker, whatever that is called, like that for 20 minutes to an hour straight.

I've also tried to load the firmware again. In fact I upgraded the firmware from the previous version in hopes that would fix it. Motion detection is off in the camera.

If you have updated FW from prior version and the problem was there then, you may have a faulty camera. You might try swapping camera locations and see if the problem follows? If it does, then you'll know.

I've had glitching like that on my dcs-2132l, but no where near s often.  Maybe 1 to 3 times a month.

I catch it on video clip because it sets of the motion detection.  No other event happened to set of motion detection.

My video frame shifts left about 1/3 of the way.

It is on ups power with an extension cord and wired ethernet.

I'd replace that camera or swap them around first.
