Hi,
sorry if this issue is being resolved already somewhere inside the topic. I couldn't find the answer suiting my problem 100%.
So here is the problem.
1. on the ground floor I have a main WiFi router I got from my internet provider (T-Com). The device is Siemens SX763 Wlan DSL. The settings of this WiFi are as follow:
Wirelles network: On
Channel: Automatic
SSID: Network 1
Transmission mode: Mixed
Super G: Disabled
LAN settings:
IP Address: 192.168.1.1
DHCP server: On
First issued IP: 192.168.1.100
Last issued IP: 192.168.1.253
2. On the first floor I have Dlink DAP-1360 which is connected with the main router on the ground floor with LAN network cable (UTP). The idea is to get a good signal strength on the 1st floor with DAP-1360 in Access Point mode. The settings of DAP-1360 are:
Enable wireless: Always
Wireless mode: Access Point
Wireles Network Name: Network 2
802.11 mode: Mixed
Wireless channel: Automatic
Channel Width: 20MHz
Visibility status: unchecked
Security mode: WPA personal
LAN settings:
My LAN connection is: DHCP
And now the problem:
Network 2 (the one from DAP-1360) has a perfect signal on the first floor. The problem start when you try to connect to that network as the Access point has problems with Obtaining IP address to the client trying to connect. Once you manage to connect to the Access point, everything is perfect, the signal, stability of it and everything but the first step in the whole process is really hard to pass (obtaining the IP). To connect you need to forget the Network 1 (main router) and Network 2 (dap-1360) and then turn off and on your WiFi on iPhone or whatever device you try to connect, and after that you somehow manage to receive IP address from Dap-1360. There must be some conflict between main router on the ground floor and dap-1360 on the 1st floor. I didn't manage to solve this despite trying to change some settings (giving the same channels to main router and dap-1360 etc.)

- What Hardware version is your DAP? Look at sticker under DAP.
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the DAPs web page under status.
- What region are you located?
Check to see if you can disable the DHCP server on the DAP as you already have a DHCP server On the ISP modem.
Also if you have 2 wireless radios running, make sure your using manual separate channels on each radio, set ISP modem to 1 and the DAP to 11. You can use the same SSID and PW for both, just channels should be different.

I can disable DHCP on DAP-1360. But then I need to setup a Gateway address on DAP-1360. What should I write there:
Other settings are:
IP Address : 192.168.0.50
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway address: 0.0.0.0
I'm notified that Gateway address can't be set to zero. After I solve this I'll be able to disable DHCP on DAP, and will set up channels manually as you have suggested.

192.168.1.1 which is the modem/router gateway IP address.

Hm, I tried 192.168.1.1 but then I got a message: "The Gateway and IP must be a same network"

Before you replied I have entered 192.168.0.51 as default gateway. The only problem is I can't access DAP administration any more using dlinkap/ address in my browser.
As soon I get into administration area I will set up the numbers as you suggested and will let you know the results.

You need to set up a static IP address on the same IP address pool as the dap, 192.168.0.49, then connect to the DAP and change to the .1.50 address.

The last question: are the First issued IP and Last issued IP set-up ok like this on main router (see below)?

just want to mention that there is still one problem that persists currently with obtaining IP address after setting all up as described in this thread.
For example, I'm connected to Network 1 on the ground floor and I climb on the 1st floor where Network 2 is stronger. When I try to switch from Network 1 to Network 2 I'm having same obtaining IP problems as described before. FurryNutz maybe you have some idea how to fix this as well?

It seams that some problems persist out there with obtaining IP address for clients that have connected to Network 2 (the one that get signal from DAP-1360). So the problem is not only appearing when you try to connect to Network 2 after you were connected to Network 1, it also appears after you are constantly connected to the Network 2. After some longer period of time, devices connected to Network 2 through DAP-1360 start to encounter the same obtaining IP address problems. Then, if restart DAP-1360 everything is fine again. So it seams, restarting DAP-1360 from while to while helps a bit. But that is not quite practical.
@Johnny, my device receives correct IP address on Network 2 only if I "forget" Network 1 on my device. If I don't do that, I can't get an IP from DAP. That makes impossible to walk through the building and change your network depending on the strength of the signal. A little bit frustrating, but I hope we'll solve the issues with generous help from FurryNutz. :)

It seems that I have found a solution to my issue regarding obtaining IP address.
To solution was to give every extender their own SSID.
It still gives the right IP addresses after 4 days..

What modes are you using the extenders in? I presume AP mode?

My main router and DAP Access Point have different SSIDs. Main router is Network 1, DAP Access Point is Network 2, but there is still problem with obtaining IP address to devices connected to Network 2 as I described few posts above. So in my case, giving different SSIDs didn't solve the problem.

Can you disable the DHCP services on the DAP and set it up so it lets the DHCP server on the main host router pass thru IP addressing and see if that works. Sounds like when DHCP is enabled on the DAP, it's not passing out IP addresses. What is the IP address of the main host router and the DAP?

My LAN Connection is : STATIC IP ADDRESS IP Address :

So the main host router is at 192.168.1.1? Hmmm...this should be passing thru IPs in this configuration to devices if the DAP is wired or bridged to main host router...What is the Mfr and model of the main host router?

Yes, the main router is at 192.168.1.1. The main router is Siemens Gigaset SX763 model. I got it from my internet provider (T-Com).

Whats it's DHCP Pool IP address set for? From and to? 192.168.1.100 to .199?

On main rooter 1st issued IP is set to 192.168.1.100 and last issued IP is set to 192.168.1.253.

Ok, so what happens if you don't use a static IP address on the DAP and let the DAP get an IP address from the main host router?
Only think I can think of would be to factory reset, reload FW, factor reset after that and set up from scratch using the wizard...

Hi guys. Sorry for not replying for a while. Somehow I forgot to enable notification for this topic so I didn't noticed you have replied to me FurryNutz.
So, my problem still persists. Every now and then I need to restart (unplug and plug again) DAP because if I don't do that people trying to connect to my Network 2 (the one transmitted from DAP) are not able to get an IP address from it. When I unplug/plug the DAP, everything works fine for a while, and then I need to do the same procedure.
So, you are suggesting doing a factory reset and setting it up from beginning?

Factory reset, reload FW, factor reset after that and set up from scratch using the wizard...
Use IE or FF to upload FW.

Hi FurryNutz, thanks for reply.
Could you please check the steps below so I can be sure I understand you correctly:
1) login to DAP administration > Maintance > System > Restore device
2) download the latest firmware from http://support.dlink.com/ and save it locally
3) login to DAP administration and load the previously downloaded FW
4) repeat step 1
5) use a wizard to set up DAP in Access Point mode

Hi FurryNutz.
Problems again :(
When I try to upload FW v2.14 to a DAP-1360 I got "Invalid upload action" error. Really don't know what to do more. Now I'm getting frustrated because of this. Can't get it to work at all.
Any further ideas?

Hm, it seems that I forced it work somehow.
So, the problem was updating a firmware using Internet Explorer. You should use Firefox instead (Chrome not as well).
I have upgraded my firmware from 2.11 to 2.14 and FOR NOW :) it seems all works fine. Obtaining IP address problem disappeared.
