Title: Getting only 5.45 Mbps via Wi-Fi | DIR 600 L
Post by: tux_wifi on September 02, 2014, 04:57:12 AM
Hi,

The only device that is presently connected via WiFi is my phone. When I run a speed test from my phone I get

5.45 Mbps. Is this the max Wi-Fi speed of this router ? The phone is in the same room where the router is.

^^ Here its says

IEEE 802.11n - up to 150 Mbps

The 150Mb is a connection rate between the router and connected devices...not actual file or data flow speed.

Best speed operation configuration would be single mode N, WPA2/AES only, Auto 20/40Mhz, HT 20/40 Co-existence disabled.

Also preferred method to test ISP speed rates is to be LAN wired with a PC. Wireless has many variables that can cause inaccurate results.

I am not sure about this but I heard that to get the download speed one needs divide the connection speed by 8.

So, 150/8=18.75MB/s. Right ?

If my above calculation is correct then there is a loss of 13.3 MB/s.

Okay, I will try with those settings and write back.

Yes, that I realized right after running the test.

Might be 75Mb UP and 75Down...

Let us know if the suggestion does anything...

Done all the above except didn't find a way to select single mode N.

Can you test with a laptop or different wireless device to see if there is any difference?

What are the speeds being reported on the PC while it's wired to the router?
