A2... Still UBICOM?
« on: August 28, 2009, 03:20:33 PM »

Does anyone know if the A2 H/W model is still a Ubicom cpu?  Or by some odd luck is it a Ralink now?

Mods?  Know the answer, or can you potentially find out this for me?

I doubt they would change the CPU in 1 hardware revision.  Nothing was wrong with the CPU, and RALink isn't that much better.  More than likely it is still a Ubicom platform.

Not so much that the chip would be better... but could potentially use DD-WRT.

I know the A1 is,  but I'm wondering if they both are...  Most likely they are, but its a shot in the dark.  I looked at the A1 and A2 internal photos on the FCC website, the A1 is clearly a Ubicom, but the A2 has a heatsink over the CPU, so you can't 100% confirm it as a Ubicom.  But yeah, it doesn't look promising.

Well considering they both use the same fw its an ubicom bro.  When there's a physical hardware change like that the manufacturer will designate specific fw for each hardware version.

I also thought about this, which really makes me think it would be a long shot.... sadly.
