Motion Detection setup
« on: June 24, 2013, 09:00:44 AM »

I am having trouble getting motion detection set correctly.   Any words of wisdom.    The camera is pointing at a garden area and I want to activate on animals (squirrel, bird, raccoon, etc) in the garden.   I seem to either be to sensitive or not enough with the 2 parameters available.   Any guidance?

Like many others, I have struggled with this and never found a decent solution using the supplied software. Make the settings too sensitive and you pick up every raindrop and night flying insect. Less sensitive and it doesn't register human movement. I never found a decent compromise.
My solution was to connect the digital input to an external PIR sensor. It works like a charm. Gone are all the false positives from spiders webs and fog etc. the camera now only records when the PIR senses movement - brilliant.
