Just bought a DIR-857 and love it so far. It is downstairs, where I also have my PS3 connected wirelessly on Band 1 (which is 2.4). Upstairs I have an iPhone, iPad, Samsung Galaxy S2, Android Tablet, Netbook and Laptop all also connected on Band 1. I haven't had any problems with any of these devices at all even though they all share one band.
The second band I use for my Apple TV upstairs and use it to stream Netflix, MLB.TV, etc. It runs really nice most of the time. I only have 60% signal to the Apple TV so it does get a bit choppy intermittently, but I'm sure I could get a booster or something to counter that.
My question is, however - after I set up the Apple TV on Band 2, Band 2 all of a sudden would not show up as a choice to connect to ANYWHERE anymore. Not from laptops, phones, nothing. Once you assign your 5 ghz band to a device, does it take it away, so that you can only assign it to one device? Just looking for a bit more background on this. I like the way it is set up anyway but just want more understanding on it.
Also can anyone recommend a good 5 ghz booster?
Thanks!!
