Backing up
« on: September 09, 2010, 10:22:41 AM »

I have 2x1TB drives in my 323 (firmware v1.05) right now. They have been in there for a while and I want to upgrade to 2 2TB drives before they inevitably die on me. What would be the best way to swap the old drives out and put the new drives in without losing any data. I do not have any pc's only macbooks. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running in RAID-1, or some other mode?

I'd do a complete backup of all the stuff on the DNS-323 ( you should have a backup anyway! ) and then stick the new drives in.

You could consider sticking the drives in a USB enclosure and running an EXT2 driver, here's an example: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2fsx/

If for some strange reason you're not backing up, I suggest you STRONGLY consider changing your habits!
