A couple of quick questions.

1) do you have a firewall enabled in your router?
2) have you setup the access to dropbox correctly?
3) assuming the dropbox connection is a secure one do you have the latest certificate?

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DNS? Look at the sticker behind or under the device.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DNSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
Is the DNS getting a Dynamic IP address from the main host router? I recommend using a Static IP address ON the DNS set to 192.168.#.32 or .20.

Hi I like the above can not connect dropbox to my nas drive it is running the latest firmware v1.08 Hardware version A2 and I am in the UK. If its a port forwarding problem what port would it be?
Any ideas would be great.

I am having the same DropBox issue.

In the SharePoint page I click the `Click here to connect to dropbox` and then the dropbox page shows up in a different tab. On that tab, in dropbox, I go to `Personal Account` -> `Connected apps` and it shows nothing to actually connect to the Dlink NAS, nor does it in `Linked apps` list with any hint of Dlink.

When I then click `Authorize` on the ShareCenter page it says "The site says" `Connection Error`.

I have looked at the actual http calls in fiddler made by the page, I am hard pressed to see it actually calling into Dropbox directly. It seems to make local IP calls (back to the DNS) which look like this (IP changed to procted, well me)

Host:
192.168.1.80   /cgi-bin/login_mgr.cgi

192.168.1.80   /cgi-bin/remote_backup.cgi

192.168.1.80   /cgi-bin/dropbox.cgi

All commands come back with 200, so why does the call to `dropbox.cgi` so why ultimately does the page display a "connection error"?

This appears to be a programming issue related to this feature.....

Thanks for the reply.... In browsing I came across the firmware update for my 320L for the *dropbox* issue.

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=73863.0

Upon upgrade of firmware, all works like a charm.

he update simply doesnt work. When you press authorize it opens a new window, with a huge "sharepointnas.dlinkddns" like url

After a while there is an error (the page is not responding)

I come to the conclusion that maybe they fixed it for a while (2 months ago when the fw wa released) and then they took down the website that does the authorization.

Google drive also does not work
Talking about god awful support.

I stopped checking every now and then because dlink initially informed methat theproduct is dead and that I should not expect another fw.

Now I find out that they released a firmware that apparently does not work any more.....

Since yesterday, the error has changed. When you press authorize, it does not even open the browser window. It simply displays, connection error.

From bad to worse.

THe worst is that Dlink support made me open a support ticket only to reply to me that the product is discontinued, but later they released a firmware fix that does not work.

Tragic.

A simple question. After you updated the firmware did you switch the unit off and then on again to reboot it?  This is a step that far too many people forget to do after updating the firmware.

As a last ditch process do a full reset - this will clear all your settings and restore factory defaults.  It is the best thing to do when settings have been changed frequently as it gives a clean slate to start from.

ivan

thank you for your help, but the issue is not with the nas.

it is with the page that does the actual authentication. Yes I have rebooted and yea I have restored the original settings.

Theres a warm reboot and theres a power OFF. I believe ivan mentioned powering OFF the DNS, then back ON.
