VPN settings on remote router
« on: March 07, 2010, 10:18:26 AM »

Hello,

I have been having trouble getting my VPN connection to be stable on the receive side of my connection. I can get it to work by turning off the ports that have been forwarded to allow the VPN connection, saving, rebooting, and then turn them back on again, saving and again rebooting. This seems to work for a little while but then they seen to stop forwarding after a short while. Does anyone have any tips as to what the best way to setup a VPN connection through the router?

I have only been using port forwarding for ports 500 UDP, 4500 UDP, 1701 UDP, and 1723 TCP. I also have the ALG for VPN on as well.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Don0t know if it would help, but there is an option to uncheck on VPN when using IPSEC NAT traversal. Look for the VPN gateway option and disable it as it states on the help embedded into the router. Cannot recall where exactly that option is but somewhat close to firewalling in the advanced settins I think.

Good luck!
