hard drive failed
« on: June 13, 2010, 11:14:39 PM »

hi.
firmware 1.08
hardware C1

description:
few month ago (March) suddenly I had 2 Volumes instead of one (used to have Raid 1).
I took out one of the drives, installed it back and NAS said that I have Raid 1 conf.
Now suddenly it said that right hard drive has failed. I took that back to shop for warranty test and discovered that the drive left has not been updated with data from previous failure. Meaning that on the drive (on the left) was on the same state as from previous error.

Question: when setting up Raid 1 - how can I be sure that it is really functioning? That data is written to both drives not only one?

Obviously, when RAID-1 is functioning properly, all data is duplicated on the two drives.  From the description, it's hard to say what happened in your case.
