D-Link’s amplifi™ Wi-Fi Solution Awarded Electronic House “Product of the Year”

D-Link’s exclusive SmartBeam® technology delivers comprehensive whole-home coverage to all devices FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA, Feb 22, 2012 - D-Link today announced it received an Electronic House “Product of the Year” award for its amplifi™ Access Point/MediaBridge® (DAP-1525), formerly named Wi-Fi Booster, in the wireless networking devices category. With a unique, award-winning cylindrical form factor, the iPv6-ready D-Link® amplifi Access Point/MediaBridge® replaces and upgrades an existing router’s wireless signal without requiring new passwords or configuration. Equipped with D-Link’s exclusive N300 SmartBeam® technology, the amplifi Access Point/Media Bridge beams uninterrupted, high-speed bandwidth to all wireless-connected devices in every corner of a home.

Electronic House received entries in 40 different categories and winners were chosen by a panel of industry leaders along with the editors of Electronic House and CE Pro magazines. Judging criteria included innovation, aesthetics, technological advances, and lifestyle benefits to the customer. Winners were announced on Jan. 10 at 2012 CES in Las Vegas. For complete details about all 2012 Electronic House Products of the Year entries, visit www.electronichouse.com/product/poty.

The D-Link® amplifi Access Point/MediaBridge with SmartBeam technology delivers complete home and outdoor coverage for a concentrated Wi-Fi connection to all wireless devices. With speeds of up to 300 Mbps, advanced QoS bandwidth prioritization, and continuous, concentrated signals to mobile devices, SmartBeam simultaneously allows seamless HD video streaming, large media file downloads, high-performance online gaming, and VoIP calling without any glitches or lag time. Its six multi-directional antennas with a patented, sectorized design locate individual wireless devices and focus beams of bandwidth to those devices.

“It is an honor to be recognized by Electronic House for our amplifi Wi-Fi solution, as we are committed to bringing high-performance home connectivity to our customers,” said Daniel Kelley, associate vice president of marketing, D-Link North America. “For consumers looking to eliminate wireless dead spots and attain complete whole-home coverage, our SmartBeam technology enables uninterrupted connectivity for a range of applications.”

“Every year we recognize the hottest products in a range of different categories, from video displays to networking devices, in order to help consumers determine what’s hot and what’s not,” said Lisa Montgomery, editor of Electronic House magazine. “Delivering high-performance network connectivity and QoS prioritization, we have chosen the D-Link amplifi AccessPoint/MediaBridge as a clear stand out in the wireless networking category, giving consumers an easy way to enhance their home wireless networks.”

MaximumPC gave the DAP-1525 a very good review as well (which is somewhat rare in that publication).
