D-Link 657 Port Fowarding
« on: May 17, 2016, 07:05:35 AM »

Hello Technicians,

I'm having issues port forwarding with the D-Link 657 Router with two devices that listen to port 502 TCP.

The topology goes as followed :  [Modem SD5102] - [D-Link 657] - [Non-Managed Switch] - [Device on port 502 (Port7)] - [Device on port 502(Port 8)]
**Modem is in bridge mode and has a public IP on the WAN interface 50.71.x.x**

The logic being to port forwarding NAT/PAT to both devices from an external source would look as followed :
50.71.x.x:502 - > 192.168.1.131:502
50.71.x.x:503 - > 192.168.1.132:502

All help is appreciated

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

If your using PF rules, disable uPnP on the router and test.
You might want disable PF rules, the enable uPnP then set up a Virtual Server configuration and see if this helps. Ya, kind hard with devices using same port. We  see this on Xbox Live and multiple game consoles. With this we use QoS and uPnP and let uPnP handle port usage. We set up QoS for global ports and remote IP address ranges. You might try this as well:
Gaming and QoS for XBL

Glad someone still using the 657.  ;D

Thank you for the Reply Furry !

Disabling uPnP and rebooting both the modem and router to flush ARP cache seems of resolved the issue.

Your help was greatly appreciated !
