Hi my internet speed is much slower than my older Apple Airport Extreme? Running Google DNS.
The results are the same on Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet
(https://i.imgur.com/tu7RhCM.png)
You can see it goes from over 200Mbps and drops on 22/12/17 where I installed the new router.
-
What FW version do you have loaded currently?
What region are you located?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP Modem?
Is QoS enabed on the DIR router?
-
FW: 1.20
London UK
Virgin Media Super Hub 3.0 Modem
QoS is disabled
It was fast (200Mbps) after I changed the channels but then I went out for dinner and its become slow again (2Mbps)
-
It is also not auto assigning IP addresses to some devices?
-
Is your Virgin ISP modem in router mode or bridged? If in router mode, your in a double NAT condition. Try to bridge the modem or if you can't, use the DMZ on the modem/router for the IP address that it gives the DIR router.
Disable all wireless on the ISP modem/router as well.
-
It is a router in "Modem mode", so it is not giving off any wireless network. I'd have to connect to the modem with ethernet to change anything. I'm using DHCP so it should just work?
-
I've also gotten a new Public IP after changing the router to the DIR one
-
My new router also decided to turn off the 5Ghz network for some off reason at around 1am
-
Okay so sometimes its fast and sometimes its slow?
-
- Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
- Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48327.0) to find out. How many? And what channels are they using?

I did two scans over a couple days for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, the issue is its not only on Wi-Fi but also when I am connect straigtht with ethernet?
-
Is IPv6 set for Local Only on the DIR router?
-
Hi it was on auto, set it to local and still getting slow internet.
I even plugged in my old Apple Airport Extreme into one of the available gigabit ports and made a different network and I am getting much faster speeds on the Apple router, when the routers are sat right next to each other now.
-
Lets try this, download same or prior version of FW to your PC.
Review this and send the FW .bin file to the router using the Recovery Mode:
Emergency Recovery Mode (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=44909.msg163599#msg163599)
Set up the router from scratch. Set IPv6 to Local only and try setting QoS to your ISP speeds UP and Down.
-
Okay so it is defo just the Wi-Fi that is having issues, ethernet is fine, I will have a go at what you told me to do now.
-
Also Merry Christmas ;D
-
Should I just not do a normal factory reset first? Also I had the issues with previous firmwares and thought if I upgrade it will fix that but it did not.
-
Hi it just fails to upgrade everytime I attempt the emergency FW upload, I also attempted a factory reset and changed all the settings and it did not fix anything
-
What browser are you using? Use IE11 or FF when trying the Recovery mode process.
-
Firefox Quantum on my Macbook
-
Do I need to flash the firmware that it is on or downgrade to the first one?
-
I would try same version as you have on now.
Try Safari on OSX for recovery mode. Then try FF ESR...
-
Tried both Safari and an Older version of Firefox and it failed both times :/
-
I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email. USA has 24/7 online chat. I'd ask about RMA options.
Let us know how it goes please.
-
I purchased the router through eBay though, will I still be able to get an RMA?
-
I don't know. I presume if the router was 2nd hand, maybe not covered. :-\
Call and find out what D-Link says.
-
They can't help :'(
Not a problem though
-
Can try returning it to PoP on ebay...
Sorry this didn't work out... :-\
-
Seller said no returns,
Im not sure if he can do that I read up that he can't, but maybe I'm wrong.
-
Was there anything in the auction about returns?
