Download speed from internet
« on: November 04, 2016, 06:06:49 AM »

Hi!

I've a Rev A1 NAS, with 2.05B10 fw and ffp 0.7. Internet speed: 40/10Mbs. Router 100Mbit
download command from console: wget http://nl.releases.ubuntu.com/releases/16.04.1/ubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso

If i download any file from computer (ubuntu) the speed cca 5.0 MB/s. However from NAS, max 2.5-2.6 MB/s. CPU usage max 15-20%.
Both device are connected with UTP.

Any idea, how to increase download speed?

Thanks!

Sorry my pure english :(

Which version of WGET are you using on the NAS and do you have SSL activated?

wget version is 1.17. SSL is activated

But i think, wget version number doesn't matter. Other downlods (ftp, transmission) max speed are 2,5-2,6MB/s on nas.

That would be the maximum download speed of NAS?

I can't say what the max download speed for the NAS is because everything we have arriving, or leaving, from our clients all go through our servers, sorry.

One thing you should be aware of is that the Marvell 88F6281 SoC is under-clocked at 800MHz and the unit has only 168MB RAM.  This is not a fast machine and the greater the load the slower it will get (that is why we dump everything from our clients to our servers first and then pass it on to the NAS boxes for storage).
