Did you remove the prior version first?

Windows didn't let you remove the current driver or did you use the Un-install feature in Programs and Features to remove the installed driver package?

OK, you may be on to something... the Uninstall in Programs worked, and I was able to install the Realtek driver.
Appears to be working better for a test download..  Have a Zoom meeting coming up..  Will let you know!

Edit: Nope, problem persists.. reinstalled the DLink driver... Also better, at first... Maybe something is flakey here..
Works for a while and returns to its one minute interruptions later..

Wonder if your Adapter HW maybe faulty.

Can you try the adapter on a different PC or laptop by chance?

Would need another 171 adapter to test with to see if same thing happens...

Well, now trying a Netgear USB adapter and getting the very same 4 sec pauses.... guess it was not the 171..
The OP said that he fixed it by disabling Windows Updates in Windows Services, but that has no effect here, whatsoever..
Wonder what he meant??

Are you still using a Telus Wifi router?

Hi, thanks for sticking with this... Yes, I am still using a Telus WiFi Hub, just like the the OP... which got me thinking that we might have the same issue.
Have sent him a PM, but no reply.  Sending you a PM as well.

Back to troubleshooting..
I can run Zoom on a laptop or a tablet, using the same hub without problems, so it is specific to my Win 10 PC.

In the procmon traces, I can see a definite 4000 ms window every 60 seconds.
Starting with:
Date & Time:   2021-06-13 9:13:38 AM
Event Class:   File System
Operation:   DeviceIoControl
Result:   NO MORE MATCHES
Path:   \Device\Mup
TID:   11552
Duration:   0.0000123
Control:   0x1403a4 (Device:0x14 Function:233 Method: 0)

And ending with:
Date & Time:   2021-06-13 9:13:42 AM
Event Class:   File System
Operation:   DeviceIoControl
Result:   NO MORE MATCHES
Path:   \Device\Mup
TID:   11552
Duration:   0.0000226
Control:   0x1403a4 (Device:0x14 Function:233 Method: 0)

There is an exact timing sequence here... 4000 ms - every 60 sec
Wonder what is triggering this..

I would try a different wifi router or a WiFi unit that has AP mode abilities. Disable ALL wifi radios on the Telus router and connect up the wifi AP unit and see if this happens using a different wifi system.

Could be something in Windows as well. Happen to have a different PC to test with?

My next step is to try an internal PCI Wifi card, instead of the USB adapter.. should arrive tomorrow..

A CAT5 cable connection to the router is the only good solution I have found, but I am in a separate room.. so not practical.

I would recommend CAT6 at least.

Possible alternative would be to setup a Power Line adapters between rooms then ethernet using them as a suggestion.

Just installed this:

https://www.asus.com/Networking-IoT-Servers/Adapters/All-series/PCE-AC58BT/

And as best I can tell, my problem has disappeared   :)

Will report back after a few days of real world usage.. but looking good!

Nice adapter.

Something to let D-link support about know that using something different doesn't seem to produce the problem.

Please consider this case closed... the solution was to remove the USB Wifi adapter and replace it with a PCI slot motherboard adapter.

Solid performance, no more pauses  :)
