Tagged traffic between 2 DGS-1210
« on: February 25, 2021, 05:04:59 AM »

Switch 1 :

2 VLANS - 1 and 201
Ports 11-14 tagged for 201 as they are receiving tagged traffic from some ESXi switches set up for VLAN 201

Switch 2 :
Created the same VLAN 201 - no ports tagged

Port 48 on the 2 switches is the uplink

All traffic is moving on VLAN 1 and VLAN 201 between all servers on ESXi on VLAN 1 and VLAN 201 as well as all non-vlanned traffic from other PCs on the system.

But when I do this :
Switch 1  : tagged port 46 on VLAN 201
Switch 2  : tagged port 46 on VLAN 201
Connected and cable between the 2 ports

No access to anything - looks like all packets dropped (I suspect)
unplugging the cable on the tagged uplink Port 46 gets everything going again

What am I missing here ?

Are you plugging in two cables between these switches eg ports 48 and 46?
If so you probably are getting a switch loop causing a broadcast storm which will kill al the traffic - all the LEDs will be blinking rapidly.
Why don't you just tag the VLAN201  on port 48?
If you want to use multiple cables to connect the switch then you have to setup link aggregation.
