yes, also I read something online that this router has a hardware fault that causes this. I think I messed up

Well in all honesty, this model router was good up to 100Mb, however most NIC and wired devices now support 1000Mb speeds. Your only limiting your WAN and LAN connections by using 100Mb with this router. I'd get into something like a DGL-4500 or a DIR-655 Rev A B or C. Even a DIR-628 supports 1000Mb speeds if your wanting a cheap used router that could be found on amazon or flebay. There some good finds out there. Even if you found one of the routers I meantioned, you can upgrade the wifi by connecting up a newer AC class AP to the router and turn off the older wifi or slower wifi radio on those model router. I have been using my DGL-4500 lately for fun and have a DIR-890L connected to it running as a AP only. Great setup
